Questions on printing
-
What is meant by "trimming"?
"Trimming" designates the area beyond the format of the page. It is performed to avoid white "edges", so-called "streaks" by elements that are printed beyond the edge of the page. Cutting or trimming is usually 2 mm per page edge. For this, also see our data checklist.
-
What is CMYK?
CMYK designates a colour range consisting in the following colours: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key Colour (black). CMYK is therefore a colour model used in the four-colour print process in which one colour is applied on top of the other. In this way, it is possible to represent 16.8 million different colours . CMYK is used for printing purposes.
-
What colours are printed?
Usually offset printing technique by Euroscale and FOGRA standards. Their files because they are not required and agreed no decorative and special paint, create entirely in CMYK. Do not use RGB or LAB. These colors automatically convert both to their CMYK equivalents. In this operation, however, may cause undesired distortion of the colors. Claims arising therefrom shall be recognized. Also, do not use any color profiles (such as ICC or similar). Even you will not be reflected in production. BLACK COLOUR Please always load in grayscale or color values 0/0/0/100 (CMYK).
-
What resolution does a picture need?
The term "DPI" (= dots per inch) is the number of pixels per length unit, i.e. the number of pixels per inch (2.54 mm). The resolution should preferably be 300 dpi (no interpolation), with a maximum of 600 dpi, respectively. Please create barcode scans with a resolution of 600 to 1200 dpi. The images embedded in your document should also have a resolution of between 300 and 600 dpi. Therefore, if possible you should avoid using images from the Internet when designing your document. These usually have a resolution of only 72 dpi and are almost always created in RGB. For this, also see our data checklist.
-
What is RGB?
RGB - Red Green Blue The RGB colour space is used by devices that generate their colours from light rays, and which add up to white when their projection is superimposed (scanners, digital cameras, monitors, projectors). This is also called additive colour mixing. For printing purposes, RGB data must be converted in CMYK during the production process. This produces colour changes that can be controlled with the help of colour management.
-
What do you mean by "copy"?
To designate multiple print motifs that are arranged on a printed sheet, one speaks of multiple copies.
